Valentino Rossi wins Laureus Award

Rossi won the most votes of 46 members of the Laureus Academy.

New Ducati rider Valentino Rossi was awarded the Laureus Award category 'Comeback of the Year', Monday, February 7, 2011. Located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Rossi managed to beat five other athletes from various branches.



As reported by the official website of the MotoGP, Rossi won the most votes of 46 members of the Laureus Academy, which is filled by the legendary athlete. The Doctor-nickname-beat Rossi U.S. golfer Paula Creamer, sprinter Tyson Gay, Belgian tennis player Justine Henin, Swedish athletes Carolina Kluft athletics, and Jamaican sprinter Merlene Ottey.

Rossi's win is considered feasible given the ability to go back onto the track after suffering serious injuries after the crash at Mugello, Italy, on June 5, 2010. It only took 1 month and 12 days for Rossi again participate and participate in the MotoGP race in Germany.
